Last Class asks us "What is Joy?"

As a sociology major, my classes tend to revolve around social systems and different forms of injustice within them. This semester, my class on race, gender, and class covered different forms of inequality. We looked at gendered, racial, sexist, ableist, and class discrimination in workplaces, educational institutions, and social lives.
The topics covered were important and incredibly heavy.
On our last day of class, my teacher threw us a party.
This class was unlike any other-- we talked about the positive.
What is joy? Where can we find it?
We were asked prompt questions about community, connection, friendship, and forgiveness.
This was something I have never experienced in a college course before but I really appreciated it. The session felt vulnerable, and hopeful! So, for todays blog post, I want to share this sentiment with all of you! In the grimmest of times- there is always joy. What is joy to you? Who does it come from? Where do we find it? Who is deserving of it? Text me your thoughts or drop a remark in the comment section of this post.
