Once upon a time (today), in a land far far away (Tuxedo, NY), there was a magical kingdom (The Renaissance Fair). In a small hovel (college apartment) down south in a nearby village (New York City), a young elf princess dreamed of seeing the magical kingdom with her elf friends (you?). While the adventure was a mere half day's journey by horse (47 miles, 1 hour car ride), the princess lacked a galloping stallion.
The years passed, and the elf girl distracted herself with petty commodifications in the capitalist post-modern world around her.
She tried to let go of this fantastical dream of hers but it was near impossible!
At night, she lay awake thinking of the stew... A big warm smelling caldron of boiling veggies, paid for with gold coins and chased down with a classic English pint. Her belly refreshingly full.
In class, she'd let her mind wander, wishing she were doing leatherworking activities instead.
She pictured herself up there on the jousting stage, swooshing and swashing at the troll across from her!
Going out at night never lived up to her expectations of the imaginarey fun she'd be having at the 'drynking stand' while watching the 'joke contest'
The magical kingdom was haunting her.
Oh how desolate the princess became! Her journey there is no feasible commute on foot!
So she began her search, looking far and wide for companions who share her dream. Where art thou with a car? The elf princess has costumes to share. Can't you picture it?
